Victorian Bothy and Estate Yard

Heritage led agricultural yard

When most people think of an agricultural yard they think of a modern concrete space but this client wanted to create something that incorporates the history of the site. The large plot housed a dilapidated Victorian bothy, originally used as a shelter for the estate workers. It was our responsibility to use traditional methods and highly skilled craftsmen to bring this back to life as part of the regeneration of the whole estate. This was on of those project where each day brings something new, unearthing a beautiful stone fireplace and beams with carving & etchings from workers long ago. We went to work on the rest of the yard techniques with a steel frame, concrete blockwork & timber cladding for a more modern feel.
